Eligibility and Selection Procedure for BS-MS Dual Degree in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, IISER, Tirupati

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent level exam with science stream in 2019 or 2020 are eligible to apply for admissions. Candidates will be admitted to IISER only through following three channels.

1.     Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel

2.     Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology

3.     State and Central Boards Channel (SCB)

These channels will be referred to as KVPY, JEE, and SCB, respectively.

Indian nationals and students belonging to PIO or OCI category are eligible to apply provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria described below.

KVPY Channel

Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2020-21 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut-off criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examination is also applicable.

JEE-Advanced Channel

Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to the reserved category (OBC-NC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000. Additional cut-off criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examination is also applicable

SCB Channel

·          Students who have passed 10+2 level with science stream in 2019 or 2020 are eligible to apply for admissions and appear for IAT 2020.

·          However, they will be considered for admissions to the degree programmes only if they obtain the cut-off marks specified for their board.

·          Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) which will be conducted at various centres across the country.

·          In order to apply for IISER Admissions 2020, a candidate has to first do online registration using the Registration link given on the website.

·          After successful registration, you will receive login id  on your registered mobile number along with the password

·          Using these login credentials, candidates should fill online application form  using Application Login link given on the website.

Note:

In case of failure of payment, kindly write down your transaction and application details. You must wait for at least three working days for the refund in the respective bank account. If the transaction amount is not refunded in the stipulated time then please send us your transaction and application details at ask-jac2019@iiserb.ac.in for the refund.

Eligibility Criteria

Biology         

Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; with all subjects) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science Physics/Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biological Sciences/Ecological Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/ Psychology or any equivalent degree

Candidates with B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Tech/ M.VSc or MBBS degree satisfying the above criteria of marks can also apply.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

JGEEBILS 2017 exam or DBT-JRF-A / ICMR-JRF / DBT-BINC / ARS-NET (ICAR) For CSIR-LS rank-holders, up to rank 200 are eligible For DAE-JEST/GATE rank-holders, up to rank 600 (GATE Life Sciences) are eligible. No cut-off for GATE Ecology

Chemistry    

Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; with all subjects) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology or any equivalent degree.

Candidates with B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharm/M.E/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree satisfying the above criteria of marks can also apply

Additional Eligibility Criteria

JEST/GATE/GPAT qualified

Earth and Climate Science           

Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 5.5 (in a 10-point scale; with master's degree in Earth Sciences/Geology/Applied Geology or any equivalent degree.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

GATE qualified in Geology and Geophysics.

Mathematics

Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 5.5 (in a 10-point scale with MSc/ M.Stat/BTech/ BE degree or any equivalent degree.  

Additional Eligibility Criteria

NBHM PhD scholarship or GATE (MA).

Physics

Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Astronomy & Astrophysics/Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biology / B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech. or any equivalent degree.  

Additional Eligibility Criteria

JEST or GATE qualified in Physics.

Age Limit

Applicant’s age should not exceed more than 28 years at the time of joining. However, the relaxation in age will be considered as per the Govt. of India regulations.

Selection Process:

Selection will be based on interviews of the short-listed candidates

The respective departments may use additional criteria (based on academic performance and/or performance in the national level tests) to shortlist candidates for interviews.

Fellowship:

Upon selection and subsequently joining the Ph.D program, candidates who do not possess any CSIR, DBT and INSPIRE, will be eligible for institute fellowship at par with CSIR, DBT etc., but without HRA component.

After the last date, all applications will be screened and candidates selected for interviews will be intimated by email

Candidates who are appearing or about to appear for final examinations of the qualifying degree program are eligible to apply for PhD program. However, if selected, their admission would be conditional upon their completing the qualifying degree with the defined marks criteria, before 1st August 2018
