International Maritime Academy (IMA) is a section 25 registered private ltd company to run the maritime courses & established on the year 1999 in the chennai city. In order to provide the technical education in the field of Merchant Navy, IMA was established. The courses conducted at IMA are highly job oriented in the worldwide shipping companies. The young boys are motivated properly & trained in a disciplined manner to work with various national in the International shipping companies.
Approval & Accreditation
• IMA is Approved by the Directorate General of shipping (DGS) Ministry of shipping, Government of India vide their letter No: 3-TR(48/99) on Dec 1999 for the issuance of Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) wherever required.
• IMA is is obtained PROVISIONAL ACCREDITATION by Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) , UK for the Conduct of B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ship Building) Course.
• IMA has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 Quality Certification by Indian Register Quality Systems.
• IMA is Graded as " OUTSTANDING " institution (GRADE-1) by SMERA (which is a DGS approved Rating Agency) for the infrastructural facilities and other features.
• IMA is conducting the courses under technical collaboration with the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) , Mukthagangotri, Mysore – 6. which is the second largest University.
• IMA is accredited by "International Accreditation Organization" (IAO),Houston,USA, which is an International Quality Assurance Agency. |

Pass in HSC / (10+2) From a Recognized Broad With 60% Average Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and 50% Average in English Subject either in 10th or 12th Standard.
Age Limit:
Maximum 25 Yrs. No Color Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye. No Eye Glasses permitted.

The interested candidates can book their seats by down loading the application form from the website (or) can be collected directly from the office.
· To confirm your reservation, the application should be accompanied with the Reservation Fee of Rs.25, 000/- by DD.
· The DD should be in the favor of 'International Maritime Academy' payable at Chennai.
· Those who are awaiting for their (10+2) / HSC results can also send the filled-in Application form along with the reservation fee (Seat Reservation Receipt will be sent immediately).
· The students must ensure themselves for the payment of course fee either by their own fund or bankers loan.
· The students who reserved their seat should report the IMA-Administrative office along with the passport size Photograph (Two), Original Mark sheet & Passing Certificate of 10th std & 12th std. (The Reporting Date will be informed to the Students).
· Verification of Mark sheets & Medical Test will be conducted at the Academy
· If the students, fail in the Medical test (which will be conducted at the Academy), will not be confirmed for their admission.
· The students, who are medically fit & found their eligibility marks correct, should pay the balance course fee before commencement of the course.
· The students must come with their Personal items (List of items will be informed by the Academy) to IMA Hostel.

à The Candidate should fill up IMU application form & IMA Academy Application Form.
à To Register your name Kindly send an amount of Rs.1,000/- along with the Downloaded Application Form with copy of your 10th & 12th Std Mark Sheet and 10th & 12th passing certificate & 4 Passport size color Photographs. The DD should be in favor of ‘International Maritime Academy’, Payable at Chennai.
à Any extension of Date to submit late application form can be requested from the Office.
à IMU will conduct the Entrance Exam (at Chennai & other places). The Date will be informed by the Academy. IMU will announce the Selected candidates list.
à After IMU confirmation, The students should report to the IMA-Administrative office along with their original 12th Standard Mark sheet & Passing Certificate etc. (The Exact Reporting Date will be informed to the Students).
à The Students are advised to verify themselves for their eye vision which is as per the eligibility criteria. Verification of Mark sheets & Medical Test will be conducted by the Academy.
