Certificate Courses in Korean and Sanskrit

Doctor of Philosophy PhD

Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree or a degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body of this University, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures

Master of Computer Application MCA

Candidates should have B.Sc honors degree under (10+2+3) pattern in any discipline of a recognized Board University/Institute with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidates have to secure 60% in Honors/Aggregate at graduation level. Candidates have to secure at least 60% marks in Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent level from recognized Boards with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at each level. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme in the Department of Bengali Language and Literature

Candidate with M.A. degree in Bengali from any UGC recognized University with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply for admission in the PhD Program

The students who have cleared UGC/CBSE conducted NET/ CSC conducted SET or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M Phil. or equivalent exam shall not be required to appear at the PhD Entrance (written) test as per PhD new regulations 2016

They will have to appear only for the viva-voce

Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the admission test and interview conducted by the university. The entrance test will be of 50 marks written and 50 marks for Viva-voce

The candidate has to write one essay of 20 marks, 20 MCQs of 1mark each with negative marking for wrong answer & 2 analytical questions of 5 marks each. Candidates appearing for written test will have to attain qualifying marks (50%) to appear for the viva-voce exam

Reservation

The policy of reservation will apply in accordance with the power conferred by subsection (1) of section 8 of the W.B. State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2013 (West Bengal Act X of 2013)

Master of Commerce (MCom)

Three years B.Com Honours Graduates of the Current year or immediately previous year under Calcutta University 

Honours graduates in Commerce from other recognized Universities 

Candidates; having graduated with Major Course in the current year or immediately previous year from Universities other than Calcutta University are also eligible, subject to the decision of the decision of C.U Equivalence Department. However, for the smooth processing of their applications, scanned copy of a certificate from their university, stating the Major Course equivalent to Honours , might be uploaded before-hand 

Candidates having passed Honours/Major Courses in Commerce from Indira Gandhi National Open University, Netaji Subash Open University and the Distance Education Programmes of other Universities of West Bengal

Selection Procedure 

Selection will be made strictly in order of merit on the basis of percentage of marks for 60% of seats for C.U. current year students and for the remaining 40% of seats, in order of merit on the basis of the marks obtained at the subject wise Entrance Test for Non C.U. and C.U. current year and back year students 

The Entrance Test for respective course will be conducted through MCQ Booklets and OMR Sheets. The MCQ Booklets will comprise 50 questions with a total of 100 marks; each question carrying 2 marks. Black Ball Pen must be used for darkening the correct answer on the OMR sheet 

Accreditation of Marks: For each correct answer 2 marks and for not attempted answer 0 (zero) mark will be awarded whereas for every wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted (Minus Marking) 

In case, two or more candidates obtain same marks in the entrance test, the candidates with less negative marking will be placed in higher position in the merit list 

Reservation 

The reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (reservation in Admission) rules 2014 will be followed in respect of admission of SC/ST/OBC-A&B and PwD

Graduation in any stream (Hons./Pass/General/Vocational, etc) from a recognized University.

The adoption of new policy for reservation of seats earmarked for Calcutta University and Non Calcutta University candidates may necessitate the formulation of a new mechanism for implementation of Calcutta University/Non-Calcutta University reservation policy

This new methodology, when formulated, will be notified

SC/ST applicants from the other states will not get the reservation facility of SC/ST

Admission to the said course is based on merit followed by counseling

The candidates employed on full time basis must apply through proper channel and furnish a no objection certificate from their employer at the time of submission of application forms

Admission test procedure: The students will be admitted on the basis of MCQ test, where the questions will appear from the three core papers of B.Ed. Syllabus, 2015 of University of Calcutta, on OMR sheet with 50 questions carrying 2 marks, adhering to the standardized format of MCQ of the University
For each correct answer 2 marks, for wrong answer minus 0.5 marks, and for not attempted 0 (Zero) marks will be awarded

If there is a tie of marks obtained in the written entrance test amongst the candidates then the candidates with less negative marking will be placed in higher position in the merit list than the other candidate

Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe applicants from the other States will not get the reservation facility of SC/ST

Age limit: 40 years as on 30th June, 2013 for fresher candidates and 55 years as on 30th June, 2015 for candidates employed in Secondary/Higher Secondary Schools, Colleges, Govt. and Semi Govt. organizations

There is a relaxation of age for maximum of 5 years for students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and Differently Abled categories

Application Submission: Attested copies of mark sheets of B.A./B.S. and B.com (Honours), M.A/ M.Sc/ M.Com, B.Ed, NET., SET, M.Phil, Ph.D and age proof certificate are to be submitted with the application forms in the office of the Secretary (Acting), Alipur Campus 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-27 (Office, Department of Education)

Incomplete forms will be rejected

No individual intimation will be given to the selected candidates
