With just 2 days left, it is time to gear up and plunge into revision! With the right technique and routine, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2017) can be the gateway for admissions to postgraduate programs (master’s and doctoral) in the country, with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/ Assistantships in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science, is open to those who qualify in GATE. The GATE score is also used by some PSUs for their recruitment.
GATE is scheduled to be held from Saturday, February 04, 2017 to Sunday, February 05, 2017 and Saturday, February 11, 2017 to Sunday, February 12, 2017.
Know about GATE 2017:
23 papers for GATE 2017 will be conducted online. A candidate can appear only in any one paper of the GATE examination and candidate must be careful while choosing the appropriate paper. The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3-hour duration that contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
Candidates must note that the questions in GATE 2017 are designed to monitor the below-mentioned abilities:
Recall: The memory of the candidate will be assessed based on principles, facts, formulae etc of the chosen paper. The answers for the same should be derived from the candidate’s memory.
Comprehension: This section will comprehend the understanding of the candidate on the basics of the chosen field by requiring them to draw simple conclusions from fundamental ideas.
Application: The questions under this section will enable the candidates to apply the knowledge either through computation or by logical reasoning.
Analysis and Synthesis: The questions will be in the form of data, diagrams, images that require keen analysis. Synthesis question will be asked where the candidates are required to separate relevant information from irrelevant information.
With just 2 days to go, try not to learn any new topics. Solve as many previous year question papers as possible. This will help you to familiarize with the questions and pattern.
It is vital to be thorough in most mathematical areas. There is no substitute for conceptual clarity and it is important to have strong concepts.
Memorize the concepts, formulae learned and revise regularly. Make note of the topics that are difficult to recall and concentrate on it more.
Manage your time well. Students must learn to manage time and develop speed.
Identify the topics that you are weak at and work on it till you make it right.
Important Pointers for taking GATE 2017:
Select your answer and click on the button of one of the options.
To deselect your chosen answer, click on the button of the chosen option again or click on the Clear Response button.
To change your chosen answer, click on the button of another option.
Numerical Answer Type Question:
To enter a number as your answer, use the virtual numerical keypad.
A fractional number in decimal notation (eg. -0.3 or -.3) can be entered as an answer with or without ‘0’ before the decimal point.
To clear your answer, click on the Clear Response button.
To save your answer, you Must click on the Save and Next button. To mark the question for review, click on the Mark for Review and Next button.
After completion of examination time (180 minutes) all the answers shall be automatically submitted.

Admit card along with at least one original (not photocopied/scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification, whose details have been entered while filling the application needs to be brought to the examination center.
Double check your admit card, identity proof and writing instruments.
GATE 2017 Results will be announced on March 27, 2017. GATE 2017 score is valid for 3 years from the date of announcement of the Results.
