Symbiosis Entrance Test – 2008 (SET- 2008)

 

 

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University [SIU] established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).

 

It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of these Symbiosis institutes. However, it is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process.

Student aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs to follow the 3 stages mentioned below:

 

Stage-1: SET Test

 

ü       Register online at www.set-test.org

ü       Candidates can register either for General or for Design or for both .

ü       Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 800/- on this website for both streams.

ü       On closing of Registration, print “Admit Card” from the website.

ü       Paste a recent photograph on the Admit Card.

ü       Bring the Admit Card on which the photograph is pasted and a Photo Identity to the Test Center.
(Candidates shall preserve the Admit Card till the Admission process of the desired Symbiosis Institutes is over. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued.)

ü       Appear for the Test.

 

Stage-2: Submit Application form to the desired SIU’s constituent institutes.

 

ü       Purchase the prospectus and application form of the desired institute.

ü       The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form for all of these institutes and also pay SET fee.

ü       Complete the application procedure of the desired institute.

ü       Apply for both General and Design.

ü       Apply also for one or more SIU’s constituent institutes.

 

Stage-3: Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if called.

 

ü       Each institute has its own weight ages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute.

ü       The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.

ü       The individual institute as per their schedules will announce Merit List & Waiting Lists.

ü       For details of selection process and schedules please refer to the prospectus of respective institutes.

 

Important:

ü       While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.

ü       The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.

ü       The SET Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results i.e. June 19, 2008.

ü       Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that

1.      Axis Bank (formerly UTI Bank) Challan for cash payment, OR

2.      Demand Draft along with Payment Advice Form for DD payment reaches Symbiosis Test Secretariat by 20 April 2008. Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

 

Test Cities:  SET Test is conducted in 17 cities. A candidate may choose any one city. The centre and its address will be informed to the candidate on the Admit Card.

Purchase of Prospectus & Application forms of Individual Institutes

 

Symbiosis Entrance Test is mandatory for application to any Symbiosis Institute. In addition to taking the SET, candidates need to separately purchase prospectus and apply to each of the individual institutes they seek admission to.

 

There are two ways of purchasing prospectus of each individual institute.

 

1.      Online purchase of Prospectus and Application Form

 

A student may pay for purchase of prospectus & application form of any of the institutes online along with the payment for SET fees through credit card. On receipt of this payment the concerned institutes will send prospectus & application form directly to the student. The amount to be paid for prospectus & application form is as follows:

SET Registration Procedure

 

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) Fees and Instructions for Payment

 

Step 1 Candidate can select both General and Design by registering separately and making payment separately. Register at www.set-test.org. This will generate your SET ID. For different modes of payment, different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

 

Step 2 Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 800/- for General and Rs.800/- for Design separately if candidate desires to apply for both according to the payment mode. You have three choices for payment.

 

CASH

This ‘Payment Advice’ form is in three parts. Pay Rs. 800/- in cash at Axis Bank [ formely UTI Bank] branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two parts of the ‘Payment Advice’ form to you. The ‘Student copy’ is your receipt.

 

Sign the Symbiosis copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ form stamped by Axis Bank [formely UTI] and send it to,

DEMAND DRAFT:  Get a crossed demand draft for Rs. 800/- from any Bank in favour of “Symbiosis Entrance Test” payable at Pune.

 

Sign the single copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ for Demand Draft and send it along with Demand Draft to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat at,  Symbiosis Test Secretariat  Symbiosis International University  Symbiosis Infotech Campus,  Plot No.15, Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park , Hinjewadi,  Pune – 411 057  Maharashtra, India.  Phone: 020-22934049 / 50.

 

ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD:  You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online. Follow the instructions on the website.

 

The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form along with online payment of SET fee for the institutes listed on the Screen. The Institutes participating in Online Sale of prospectus are:

Step 3. Admit Card should be printed from the website.This will be operative on closing of registration on April 15, 2008 and will remain open till May 3 rd, 2008. Ensure the following.

 

Print the Admit Card online

Paste your own photograph on the on-line Admit Card.

Bring the Admit card with photograph pasted on it to the Test Center in addition to a photo-identity. An acceptable photo identity is any one of the following:

o         Passport

o         Driving license

o         College / Institute identity card

o         Credit card with photograph

 

At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce the photo identity as described here. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Card against the photo-id.

Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes.

Please note that no duplicate Admit Card will be issued in case it is lost by the candidate.

 

Important:

SET Registration Fee is non-refundable. Note that claims for refund of the SET Registration fee will not be entertained on any account.
