CSIR UGC NET 2018 - Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi invited applications for the Single MCQ Examination (Joint CSIR - UGC Test) for theAward of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) NET and appointment for Lecturer (NET). The eligible candidates can apply Online for the CSIR NET examination through the CSIR, HRDG’s Website (csirhrdg.res.in) on or before 17th June 2018 (Sunday).

CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test Tentatively on Sunday 17th June 2018.  

The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research,as applicable.

A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF’ OR for‘Lectureship (LS) only’ He/she may indicate his/her preference in the Online Application, as the case may be. CSIR may consider candidates for ‘JRF’, or ‘Lectureship only” depending on number of fellowships available & performance in the test, subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criterion.

If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only. Candidates with M.Sc. qualification OR under M.Sc. Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for LS subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.

Two separate merit lists, one comprising the candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-NET) and the second, of those candidates qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET), will be made on the basis of their performance in the above Test. Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET) subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC.

Candidates qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable. However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF-NET Fellowship. Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will receive fellowship either from CSIR or UGC as per their assignment or from the Schemes with which they may find association.

Candidates declared eligible for Junior Research Fellowship under UGC scheme and Lectureship will be governed by UGC rules/regulations in this regard.

The final result of this Single MCQ test may be declared sometime in the month of Sept/Oct. 2018 and fellowship to successful candidates will be effective from 01st January 2019 with the validity period of 2 years for joining the fellowship under CSIR Scheme

Eligibility:

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Candidates must be an Indian National

Education Qualification: Candidates should have M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of application form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

Such candidates will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared.

B.Sc(Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55%marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply

Candidates with bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for PhD/Integrated PhD program within the validity period of two years

Candidates having Bachelor’s degree only shall not be eligible for Lectureship

The eligibility for lectureship of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. PhD degree holders who have passed master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991, with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship only

Age Limit & Relaxation

For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years as on 01st January 2018 {upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC(non-creamy layer) applicants}

For LS (NET): There is no upper age limit for Lectureship

CSIR UGC NET 2018 Exam Pattern

The single paper MCQ based test will be held tentatively on Sunday, the 17th June 2018. The examination will be held in two sessions; morning 09.00 AM to 12.00 noon and afternoon 02.00 PM to 05.00 PM

The Test will be held in a total of five subjects viz., Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Earth, Physical Sciences Chemical Sciences, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences. The CSIR UGC NET pattern for the Single Paper MCQ test shall be as given below:

The MCQ test paper of each subject shall carry a maximum of 200 marks; the exam shall be for duration of three hours. The question paper shall be divided in three parts.

Candidates should use only black ballpoint pen and not pencil to fill in their particulars in the OMR Answer Sheet/Question Paper Booklet and to darken the appropriate circle to mark their answers in their OMR answer sheet

The Question Booklet for this test will be printed in Hindi & English Version

Syllabus of the Test:

The question paper shall be divided into three parts, (A, B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam

Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc.

Part 'B' shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple-Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus

Part 'C' shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem

The Exam Scheme for Chemical Sciences has been revised from June 2017 CSIR-UGC (NET) Exam onwards. The revised exam scheme and model Question paper may be seen at CSIR HRDG websitewww.csirhrdg.res.in

Negative marking for wrong answers, wherever required, shall be applicable as per subject wise scheme of Exam

A candidate may opt for any of the above centres. No request for change of centre would ordinarily be granted

Interested and eligible candidates may apply Online through a link available at CSIR, HRDG website www.csirhrdg.res.in

Exam Fee

Candidates applying for the Test may deposit their Exam Fee, after verifying their eligibility, in any branch of the Indian Bank throughout the country by paying the following fee in cash through bank challan to be downloaded from the CSIR website OR through NEFT from any other Bank branch

The journal number or the UTR number given by the Bank is to be filled in the payment details while submitting the application form:

For General - Rs.1000/-

For Other Backward Classes (OBC) - Non-Creamy Layer - Rs.500/-

For SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) or Visually Handicapped (VH) - Rs.250/-

Candidates may also deposit their fees through RTGS or NEFT by giving particulars of the Indian Bank, as notified in the fee deposit challan

Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at CSIR, HRDG website

Hard copy of filled online application form, duly completed with requisite enclosure should be sent by Ordinary post to the Deputy Secretary (Exam), Exam Unit, HRD Group, CSIR Complex, Opposite Institute of Hotel Management, Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 so as to reach ExamUnit CSIR

CSIR UGC NET June 2018 Admit Card

Appearing candidates of CSIR UGC NET June 2018, can download them admit cards from the official website www.csirhrdg.res.in

Admit Card will be issued by 01st week of June 2018. The candidates have to enter their application form number and date of birth to download there, admit card

No hard copy of admit cards will be issued to any candidate

Candidates have to carry their, admit cards at the exam center
