Eligibility Criteria for SLIET SET 2018
Three-Year ICD (Integrated Certificate Diploma) Program (SET-I & SET-IA)
Matric pass (Pass in English, Mathematics and Science is compulsory) from a State Education Board/CBSE/ICSE/National Open School or an equivalent exam recognized/approved by MHRD, Govt. of India
For admission to Lateral Entry ICD (2nd year) in addition to the matric pass as above, must have passed full time 2 years ITI/Certificate/10+2 (vocational) in relevant trade with 50% marks(45% for reserved categories) from Govt./Semi Govt. Institute along with 2 years industrial experience from Govt./Semi Govt. and Private Industry of repute
BE (4 Year) [Admission through JEE (Main)]
Eligibility condition as per JEE (Main)-2017; Admission/Counselling through CSAB-2018 /JOSSA-2018
B.E (Lateral Entry) (SET-III) - 3 Years
Bachelor of Engineering is a continuation of technical expertise acquired in corresponding Diploma Programs and offers an opportunity to Diploma holders to obtain Bachelor Degree in Engineering
Eligibility: All candidates who have passed Diploma course in any discipline from SLIET or from any other polytechnic affiliated with any State Board of Technical Education and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), securing 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) are eligible
Those who are appearing in final examination may also apply
M. Tech Program (2 years)
The objective of M. Tech. Program is a continuation of technical expertise acquired in qualifying Degree Programs. This will offer an opportunity to the candidate to acquire skill to work on R&D projects and to promote industry institute interaction
The duration of the M. Tech Program is 2 years
Eligibility
Holds a B. Tech. /B.E. /B.Sc. (Eng) Degree of recognized University/Institute in the appropriate branch (or); has passed Section ‘B’ of the Institution of Engineers (India) in appropriate branch or Grade IETE and has three years of professional experience in reputed organization
Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in aggregate in qualifying degree
Must have a valid GATE score
For appropriate branches at graduate level eligible for admission in various M. Tech Courses, candidates are advised to refer to website of CCMT-2018
MBA Program (SET-IV) - 2 Years
The objective of M.B.A. Program is to inculcate ethical professional and managerial skills for effectively managing the various functions of business in the era of globalization and privatization
The duration of the M.B.A. program is 2 years
Eligibility
Candidates should be a Bachelor’s Degree, B. Tech., B.E., B.Sc., B.Com or Graduation with Economics and Mathematics from any recognised university with 55% or more marks(50% or more marks for students belong to SC/ST) or
A Master’s degree in any discipline of any recognized university with 55% or more marks(50% or more marks for students belong to SC/ST)
Selection Procedure
For admission to MBA Program, Candidates should be GATE qualified or should have a valid Score of CAT for corresponding year/CMAT-2018 and will have to appear for Group Discussion and Interview at SLIET Longowal
All the candidates aspiring to get admission in MBA Program will have to fill the online Application Form of SET-2018 (SET-IV) as per schedule
M.Sc. Program (2 Years)
The four semester (two years) M.Sc. Program based on credit system comprise of a number of core and elective courses and project work
The focus of various M.Sc. Programs offered by Science Departments would be to generate post-graduates who are confident of applying their knowledge to practical problems of industry including R&D organizations
Eligibility
The minimum eligibility for admission to Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programs will be at least 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in the aggregate in qualifying examination as mentioned hereunder:
M.Sc. (Physics): Recognized B.Sc. Degree with Physics as one of the subject
M.Sc. (Chemistry): Recognized B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry as one of the subject
M.Sc. (Mathematics): Recognized B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as one of the subject
Selection Procedure
The admission to M.Sc. program will be through CCMN-2017. Even Non-JAM candidates can also register at CCMN-2018 and shall have to appear in SET entrance examination to fill up the vacant seats at SLIET

PhD Program (SET-V)
The admission to Ph.D. program (Part Time/Full Time) will be strictly as per institute rules. The admission will be done in the following departments:
Chemical Engineering (PhD-CE); Chemistry (PhD-CHY); Computer Science & Eng (PhD-CS); PhD-EIE; PhD-ECE; Humanities (English) (Ph.D.-ENG); Food Engineering & Technology (Ph.D.-FET);
Management (PhD-MGT); Mathematics (PhD-MATH); Mechanical Eng (PhD-ME); Physics (PhD-PHY)
Eligibility
Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology / Science / Humanities / Management with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in relevant disciplines (MCA degree is not eligible for Ph.D.in CSE)
Master’s Degree holders or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, should be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991
The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures
Selection Procedure
Admission to the PhD Programs will be based on Two Stage Process through:
An Entrance Test (SET-V) shall be Qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at SLIET only; and
An Interview/Viva-Voce wherein the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Dept. Research Committee
SLIET SET 2018 Exam Pattern
There will be only one paper of two & half hours duration and of 150 marks for SET-I, SET-1A & SET-III. For SET-V, it shall be of two hours duration and having 100 marks.
The syllabi and distribution of marks for SET-I, SET-1A, SET-III and SET-V are given in the Chapter-III, IV, and VIII respectively and all the syllabus can also be downloaded from the institute website www.sliet.ac.in
There will be objective type questions with four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one-fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted
However, no deduction of marks will be made if no response is indicated for an item in the OMR Answer Sheet. The candidates appearing for Exam are advised not to attempt such item in the answer sheet if they are not sure of the correct response
All objective type questions are required to be answered on OMR Answer Sheet to be provided at the time of Exam
Answers are to be marked using ball point pen (black/blue) only
Medium of Exam
The medium of entrance exam for SET-IA, SET-II, SET-III and SET-V will be English
However, for candidates appearing in the entrance test for 3 -Year ICD Program (SET-I), question paper for Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics will be provided in English, Hindi & Punjabi language as per choice of the candidate filled in the application form at the time of registration
