Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) was initially constituted as the University of Cochin through an Act of Kerala Government on 10th July 1971. The University of Cochin was re-constituted as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986, redefining its objectives as "promoting Graduate and Post-Graduate studies and Advanced Research in Applied Sciences, Technology, Industry, Commerce, Management and Social Sciences." Minimum required qualification for the above B LET – B Tech Lateral Entry courses except Instrumentation and Control Engineering)
· Any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks. The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the current academic year.
· Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
· SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
Minimum required qualification for the B LET – B Tech Lateral Entry programme in Instrumentation and Control Engineering
· Candidates seeking admission through lateral entry shall have 3 years diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics awarded by a board recognized by the department of technical education, Govt. of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks. Maximum age limit will be 25 years as on 1st July of the academic year.
· The relaxation of marks in qualifying examination given to Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Schedules Tribe candidates as well as SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer as detailed in Clause 2.2.1 above are applicable to B Tech Lateral Entry programme in Instrumentation and Control Engineering also.
Compulsory Test for B Tech LET Programme (for Lateral Entry to 3rd Semester B Tech)
Test Code - 102 (Test Duration: 3 Hrs)
Test Subject / Syllabus: The Lateral Entry Test for admission to III Semester of the B. Tech course comprises 200 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency in English (20 questions), Mathematics (50 questions), Engineering Mechanics (40 questions), Engineering Graphics (40 questions) and General Engineering (50 questions). The test shall be of 3 hours duration and the maximum marks will be 600. For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer one mark will be deducted.

Minimum Qualifications Required for B Tech Instrumentation and Control Engineering Programme
· The candidate shall have passed the plus two (12th) examination of any state/national board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent by the Cochin University of Science and Technology.

Minimum Qualifications Required for B Tech Marine Engineering Programme
· Pass in the Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examinations accepted as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks and minimum 50% for Mathematics alone. Should have passed English at 10th or 12th Standards with 50% marks (No relaxation to SC/ST and SEBC Candidates).
· Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission. Physical and eye fitness certificate from a medical officer approved by the DG Shipping should be produced at the time of admission.
