  • Course Name: Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science DNS
    Course Description: Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) affiliated to IGNOU- D G Shipping (12 months Pre-Sea Training course followed by 18 months of Structured Shipboard Training as Trainee Navigating Officer Cadet (TNOC)’ s under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) – Directorate General of Shipping (D G Shipping) project, leading to B. Sc. (Nautical Science) to be conducted at The Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies, Lonavala.

    Academic Qualification

    Graduation in BE (Mechanical) Engineering, Naval Architecture with minimum marks of 50% in final year

    AND

    Minimum 50% marks in English subject at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam conducted by a recognized board or University

    Age Limit: 24 years

    Marital Status:  Unmarried

    Medical Standard:

    ·          Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 95/MS Medical rules 2000 as applicable to seafarers. Candidates will have to undergo a full medical check up as per the practising Doctor approved by D.G.S hipping.

    ·          Eyesight: +/- 2.5 permitted. Normal colour vision. Candidates will have to undergo a full eyesight test by a Company Medical Officer.

    Admission Procedure:

    ·          Eligible candidates will be called for written test, medical test, interview and final selection

    ·          Medical and Interview will take place at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi

    ·         Merchant Marine Personality Evaluation (MMPE) test: Shortlisted Candidates must compulsorily undergo a psychological screening test known as ‘Merchant Marine Personality Evaluation (MMPE) Test’ introduced by the D G Shipping.


    How to apply:

    ·          Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria should apply in English only.

    ·          The Application should be submitted in the format given in the website only, with one recent passport size photograph pasted neatly in the right hand top corner.

    ·          A Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Fifteen Hundered Only) drawn on a Mumbai branch of any Nationalised Bank crossed “A/c Payee Only” and payable to “The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd.” must be enclosed with the Application Form. Any Application received without the Demand Draft or for lesser amount will not be considered.

    ·          Applicant must write his name in CAPITALS on the reverse of the Demand Draft.

    ·          Duly completed Application Form along with the Demand Draft should be sent in a sealed envelope superscribed as
